So, my fish have these worms sticking out of their ass...
Update [2007-4-28 8:28:27 by Scott Lockwood]: There is some indication that the math is still wrong, that you may want to use 500mg rather than 695mg per 10 gal tank.

I've been tinkering with my automatic water change system again. It is now in its third generation configuration.
It has been an interesting learning experience and I thought I'd jot down some notes in case anybody else is looking for inspiration.

Although not about guppies, it pertains to a guppy tank that I am restarting using cherry shrimp as a clean up crew + small bioload to start cycling.

I hope this is in the right place!
Well, the others are all gone...as some may remember, I had some weird outbreak that would come and go for months on end...it resembled parasites and/or fish TB, but several rounds of parasitic medicine and food didn't work. After much debate, I euthanized all of them...including the grandson of one of my originals that was a gorgeous gold wag (I have platies). It broke my heart to have to do so, but something was just passing around there as they would drop one-by-one.

Ok - I'm in the process of doing an upgrade, due to us having a VERY old codebase, #1, and some security issues, #2. Unfortunately, as those of you who have looked at the site in the last 16 hours are painfully aware, it did not go well! I have rolled back to what we were using before, and will be attempting the upgrade again here shortly.

So, right about this week, four years ago I launched this site. I couldn't believe it was that long, I really thought we'd have better content and editorial stuff going on by now. :-( Still, we do have a hard core group of volunteers who make this place what it is, the top five of which (in my book anyway) are Uncle Scott, Miskarial, guppygirl, maggie1270, and lomelindi. All have contributed much in one way or another in the last four years. Thanks you lot - I couldn't have made this place what it is without you.

I've been thinking about Scott's observation that the content of GL is pretty much the same as it was. In many ways he is right, I've got to reluctantly agree. Many of the questions asked on the current "everything" page or three, Google just on the Guppylog search for 50 to several 100 hits. There are even quite a few comments on what GL is doing and where it is going. In some ways we are getting better at answering them.
